Hiya! I'm new to this, and right now I'm using some cheap embroidery thread from just a generic dollar tree-esque shop. I'm wondering what thread is best to use for bracelets- these seem to fuzz and unravel easily. What do you reccomend, and where can I find it? Thanks!!

@catswit I recommend investing in some good quality embroidery thread, it's generally the best for making bracelets, but if you were only trying out bracelet making and not sure if you're going to continue the cheap one should be ok. I just get my embroidery thread from a local shop, you might have a shop like that in your area

A lot of people including me use DMC, you can find it at a craft store. It's known for its wide range of colors and good quality!

For the end result you won't see a big difference between cheap and expensive, because the knots are so tight. But merch string might works easier.

I use all kinds of different threads. For the most part I use threads that I got in a bulk pack on Amazon that were relatively inexpensive. I'll intermix with Anchor and DMC threads if I can't find the colour I want in the inexpensive threads..

Well, since you're presumably going to be wearing it as a bracelet, you should try to find a thread that feels good on your skin. There's a lot of good stuff at Michael's, although i'm not 100% sure what exact brand it is.

I have always stuck with DMC. It's soft, feels great on the skin, fantastic colour range. I have tried cheaper thread (Sullivans) and it just felt awful to work with, rough to the touch also means it sticks and tangles more. And comparing the colours to DMC (the ones they claim to match to DMC shades) there is simply no comparison. DMC use high quality cotton that is colourfast to 90°C and have an excellent reputation. It can get expensive building up a supply but per bracelet the thread cost is pretty low, like a couple of dollars for a decent size bracelet. Buying cheaper thread doesn't really save an appreciable amount of money, when buying individual skeins from a shopfront at least.

I also consider the time it takes me to make one. If I'm going to invest 5-10 hours into making a project I want to use quality materials and feel satisfied with the result.
