dont know how much string to measure for without too much waste or not enough to make the entire pattern/patterns.

They way I measure is: my clipboard is 9 inches long and I measure the thread 3 times along the board (so math it you get 27 inches or so) and that's my general measurement. For some patterns, some threads are used way more or way less than others and I just measure accordingly. I do have extra in the end, but that goes into a scrap box for keychains and alphas

This is a bit tricky. The more knots of its own colour a string makes, the longer it needs to be. The less knots of its own colour a string makes, the shorter the string needs to be. You can roughly estimate the length needed, but you could also try to make some kind of formula. For me 45cm + percentage of knots made in the colour of the string works, but for you that might be different, because it depends on how tight you knot and which materials you use. The standard length I cut my string is 90 cm and then I estimate which ones need to be longer and which ones need to be shorter. I rarely actually calculate it. You'll get better at estimating with more experience. |

Oh, I forgot to say, my previous reply was for normalsFor alphas, the base strings need to be the length of the bracelet plus some extra for ties. If you want to do a certain amount of rows, you can calculate the length it will be based on how long a certain amount of rows is in an alpha you have previously made. I usually just leave the leading strings on the skein and cut them in the end. |

I measure by extending my arm to the side and from my fingers to my nose, or a little longer is usually perfect. That’s kind of random, but it works for me.

Thank you everyone who responded to my how much string question. I look forward to figuring things out based on your great help. Thank you. I’m learning how to use and navigate this site so thank you for being patient too. Lovely patterns and so much fun and inspiration from everyone. Thank you again. I hope to figure out how to put my finished bracelet pictures on here too! |

Go to the pattern you want to submit a photo of. If you are on the app, you click the plus symbol and on the website you just click "add a photo". There you can submit a photo. It will then be reviewed by a moderator which will take less than a day.
