I've been trying to find the best set up for me and I was wondering if anyone tried using a bracelet board similar to this one? (sorry for the long link) https://www.amazon.com/Choose-Friendship-Bracelet-Jewelry-Making/dp/B008B7BC8S?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 |

I use a regular clip board to make bracelets, which is probably less expensive. In my opinion, you don't really need the pegs at the bottom and they also only seem to be useful when working with a small amount of strings, because there wouldn't be enough pegs for a bigger amount of strings. Some people seem to be really happy with using bracelet boards. If you want to make your own, you can follow this tutorial: https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/162_the-loca-board-tutorial/ The advantage of making your own would be, that it is probably less expensive and more usable for bigger amounts of strings. You can check out the comments on that tutorial. Maybe someone has written about their experience there. |

Ok, thank you so much for the link, I'll check it out. ❤️ I've bee experimenting with different methods of holding my bracelet down and I find it's easier to knot when the project is at an angle. I have been clipping it to my ipad stand that adjusts height and angle, and it's working well, except when I want to watch a video while knotting 😄

I had that in 2019. It wasn’t very helpful. It made my bracelet knots loose and elongated.

Ok, thanks for your opinion. I decided not to buy one and experiment with what I have around the house.

Thanks @ nofiah7 for the link! I might give that a try too! I’m just looking for what forks best for me. I like to take my project with me to work on while I’m on the go.

@nofiah7 I picked one up from Michael's with a nice coupon! The board stinks something awful, like rubber, so it's airing out right now. Does the smell ever get better?

@ LauraLou64. Last week, I bought a Beadsmith Macramé board, which as a beginner bracelet maker, i find useful for organising the cords whilst knotting. However, the board is made of thick foam (EVA?) which is a bit bendy. I use the board on a slant resting it against a small table to make myself comfortable whilst knotting, but i feel the Macramé board would snap in two if i didn't put a wooden support board behind it. ❤️ |

I’m new (at least since 20 years ago) and I’m wanting to make friendship bracelets for foster kids. Is there something better to use than a clip board?

Some people tape it to the table. some use a pin and tie it to their jeans. I tried a bunch of things until I tried what works for the way I work so that it is most ergonomic for me. My chiropractor does not like me looking down for fear of "text neck" 😂. So I have it on my desk in front of me.

I use a bracelet board like that. It's been useful for normal patterns up to about 10-12 strings. I feel like it helps keep me organised. Previously I used a regular clipboard (with a home made bit of cardboard at the bottom with indents - kind of like a self-made macrame board), I'm finding the bracelet board more useful than the clipboard, but I think it's also to do with whether you're a beginner or not. As I'm getting more experienced and understanding the structure of things better I don't feel I need it as much. I did my first alpha the other day and didn't find it useful for that (although I just used it as a glorified clipboard, I taped my bracelet to it using washi tape and then at least it was helpful for being able to take to different rooms). |
