Long story short, my first attempt at an alpha. I picked a fairly simple one or so I thought. My attempts look nothing like the fine examples in the photos. Is it me, am I doing something wrong or is there some sort of mix up between the pattern and the photos? I am following the flow, left to right, down, and then right to left. I am way to fixated on this and said I was going to move on to a different pattern, but like a detective or journalist, I must know. 🤔 😂

It seems like for the zipper you don’t do a color change like a normal alpha and just keep the same string free. If that doesn’t work then I don’t know how to do it.

Thank you for your reply. I typed in zipper bracelet into youtube and found a video https://youtu.be/d2YbiZ9yQQA?si=gqU_XNGFjVCW9GWR that shows how to make the bracelet depicted in the photos for the pattern. The pattern and photos do not match. Case closed. 🎉
Thanks again.

@AfuaDawn Here are a couple suggestions to look out for. When you go left to right make sure you're doing forward knots and when you go right to left you do backward knots. Make sure you do two knots on the string your on. So two forward knots or backward knots. Last thing when you get to the last string you have to do double the knots so you're starting the row on that sting and not the following. For example you just finished a row from left to right so you have down two forward knots. Now on that same string you’re going to do two backward knots and continue you the pattern from right to left.

I would suggest doing another pattern with more of a width. That will help with the rhythm/habit of creating a pattern. The first alpha pattern I did was pattern #121761 on a toothpick so I wouldn't have to do a whole bracelet.

Last thing I promise!!! There are techniques to help your patterns look better I suggest watching a couple YouTube videos. One I found useful was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YVFAX9sacw&t=502s

I hope this helps you and good luck in creating!

Thank you for the suggestions and tips. I still think the photos and the pattern do not match. 😄

There are just certain bracelets that can't be accurately portrayed as braceletbook patterns. This pattern might be an example of one. In these cases, the pattern is not actually meant to be followed exactly but is just there so you have a place to post your photos of this bracelet.
