How to prevent knots in an alpha from looking slanted

Hello I'm completely new to alpha bracelets and in my first creation I noticed each knot looks slanted like so: / / / Are there any techniques or tips to make them appear straighter? |

if you pull your knots tighter they probably would be less slanted. also, if you make a knot and then like adjust it with your fingernail or something to make it straight before continuing the next knot that might help? and when you're making a knot, make sure the string you're knotting over is pulled straight down, not sideways.

If you make your knots looser they'll be easier to move around and manipulate. You can push up the rows with a ruler or other hard surface to straighten them.

I was told it could be avoided by doubling your base strings (but keeping your lead/knotting strings as single skeins/strings)
