whenever I try a more advanced pattern (not alpha) I notice that my bracelet always looks weird. like the pattern will show, but it’s not that nice and ends up crooked if that makes sense lol. would leaving a gap between my pattern and my knot help this, or am I just knotting wrong? whenever I watch a tutorial for a certain bracelet design I always notice that their bracelets end up much neater and straighter than mine, no matter how careful I am when I knot.

Try to make your knots as close together as possible. To do that, you have to pull the first half of the knot tight before making the second half.Secure your bracelet so it can't move around a lot while knotting. Move your anchor down, the longer the bracelet gets. Don't pull the bracelet to the left or right while knotting, but straight down. |

@halokiwi I’m slightly confused lol, by straight down do you mean straight up? like when I make my forward/backward knots, I don’t see how it’s possible to knot down to create my pattern lol, but thanks for the other tips!

I mean the bracelet itself, not the string you are knotting with. Don't pull the bracelet to the left or the right while knotting. Instead pull the bracelet straight (maybe that's a better word than down) while knotting.
