Does it matter if I use a different brand of string for the base strings in an alpha?

One of the biggest pieces of advice I keep hearing for bracelets is to not use different brands of string to make it look cleaner and more efficient to me, does that also apply if only the base strings are different and nothing else?

The base strings can be a different brand as the leading strings. It's even good, if they are a little thicker than the leading strings. But all leading strings should be the same brand.

just make sure all the leading strings are the same thickness
