Practice, practice, practice 😉If the old colour is sticking out, try pulling on the old leading string a little Make the knots on the looser side and not super tight Are you doing the flat alpha technique? If no, I really recommend doing it. |

I'm trying to make a bookmark using an alpha pattern, and I'm not quite sure how to use a different color around the border of it. If I want a different color than my background color to line the edges of my project how do I go about that? How do I make sure my edges are straight as well?

The straight edge technique involves doing forward backward knots on the right and backward forward knots on the left.

@mirasghost as @Ava_Knots5 says, you can use the straight edges technique to make sure your edges are straight. When you are knotting towards the edge and need to make a colour switch for the last knot, you can't use the flat alpha technique in the way MashaKnots describes in her video on the flat alpha technique. You'll need to do a regular colour switch there (she also explains that in her video) or you basically do the flat alpha technique the other way around: put the new leading string through the previous knot instead of putting the previous leading string through the first knot of a new colour. For knotting away from the edge, you can use the flat alpha technique without any issues |
