I was thinking of trying a small alpha pattern, before I started I figured I’d get some help from more experienced users.

Masha Knots tutorial!! She has flat alpha tutorial which is amazing that is how i learned!! Also, try smaller bracelets with 2-3 colors max to get used to color switches before transitioning to more challenging bracelets. I have some photos for easier patterns posted if you are looking for simple patterns!

I'm still kinda in the learning phase on alphas, but loosening my knots made the biggest difference for me. Tight knots make the color swaps a lot harder because you can't hide them as well. Plus if they're too tight then your bracelet dimensions might start to get skewed and you also can't slide the knots up if you need to.

for a beginner I would recommend using 2-3 colorsstarting on a straight edge for example using tape to make the first row straight also use the same brand of string some brands are thicker than others if you use different size string your bracelet will turn out wonky |

if this is your first alpha, don't do one with a lot of colour switches. do something easier/with fewer colour switches, so that you can get used to it before going to a more advanced pattern

Try to keep the knot tension consistent. I would say to look up YouTube tutorials to help you out. There is quite a few on YouTube to choose from. Do t worry about using the different techniques at first until you get the hang of it. After the first few it gets way easier!!

I know you make this post weeks ago already, but I haven’t seen it in this thread yet. Use a ruler and push your knots up the string!! That will do two things, one it will make each row straighter so they don’t look curved as you get further into the pattern, and two it will make your patterns clearer and less stretched. I hope you have fun knotting!!
