Does anyone know how long do I need to leave for ties when I tape my bracelet down?

It depends on what you do with your ties later, but over estimating string is generally better than underestimating. It also depends on how long you want your ties.I just realized I haven't made enough bracelets to answer this question, but I like really long ties to accommodate many wrist sizes. For me, 3 inch ties resulted from 6 or 7 inches of string on the ends. |

I usually double the length I want the finished ties to be then add an additional inch. So if I want 2.5" ties then I would leave 6" of string at the beginning. This can be different for each person though, depending on how tight you twist or braid your ties. However, you are definitely better to err on the side of too much string. Tying the knot at the end of your braided or twisted ties is super hard if you don't have enough string.
