Hello I noticed some people use a lighter to burn the loose string from the back of their bracelets. What if I don't do this? Will my bracelet eventually unknot itself?

personally i just cut the the strings in the back and i have never had any knots undo but if you are worried that they will undo you could use clear nail polish tooi hope this helps sorry if it didn't ❤️ |

@E-V-E yeah I do the same thing! I won't EVER use a lighter to burn the back strip off a bit cause I feel like it is just a high risk of the bracelet actually catching on fire! Ik ik that sounds a bit stupid but still! I have absolutely NO problems cutting the strings and they never unknot!

@E-V-E ik ppl are like "what? that's a stupid thing to worry about." and im like "well then u try it" lol its not a stupid thing to worry about cause like imagine doing that and then the bracelet catches on fire! and then that means just all of your thread and hours were waisted lol

usually I just cut the string on the back of my alpha but if you are worried about it unraveling you can tie a overhand knot but I found that glue of clear nail polish makes the back of the bracelet kinda rough if there is a string on the edge you can tie it to a string in the middle of the bracelet 😊 |

can someone fill me in regarding why a lighter would be used in the first place? like, for what purpose?not sarcasm; genuine confusion. |

@camikaye based on the original post, this is about the loose strings that you have in the back of an alpha. I'm not sure why it would be beneficial to burn them instead of just cutting them, but that's what some people seem to be doing 🙂

@camikaye My sister uses a lot of wax string to make bracelets and she always melts the ends using a lighter. It just isn't necessary when using regular thread (and also not too safe) and would most likely ruin your bracelet. But when using paracord or wax thread, it naturally does not want to stay and needs to be melted in order to stick. Hope this answers your question!!
