I have probably looked at and watched every tutorial and video on the whole internet, yet for some reason I don’t know my problem. I am doing my knots correctly or in the right direction (so I think… at this point I’ve near lost sanity) yet my knots come undone immediately? And with alphas, I use the flat alpha technique and my strings stick out of the side of the knot and will not let me bring them to the back. I am better at alphas than normals for some reason but that’s OK because I prefer them. I know how to do them and I’ve managed to make a lot of very good looking ones. But then this happened? If anyone can help or offer advice, you are a godsend

I think it’s a tightness issue? But I guess I don’t know how to tighten my knots

the coming undone definitely sounds like a tightness issue. i think you just need to pull harder when making your knots. as for the string sticking out the sides, bring it to the back anyways. it will seem like it won’t look good, but usually it looks fine. i would recommend not making flat color switches on the edges, though, because you’ll see the string going to the back.

Are you making both halves of your knots? Even when loosely knotting, the knots should not come undone when doing both halves of the knots. The only thing I can imagine is, if your string is very slippery.

Thank you so very much for trying to help me out. I appreciate it. I’m using dmc thread and haven’t seen anyone have this problem with it. I’m going to try out what you’ve suggested here and see. If anyone else has any ideas please don’t hesitate

I think I’ve figured out the problem. My string was a bit twisted up and was getting everything mixed up. Seems to be back to normal. Thank you all for your help !
