How do I read the patterns with the arrows? And do I go across or up and down?

You can go row by row. I think that's the easiest to start with to not get confused.I don't really know how to explain it but once you've got a bit more practice it's faster and more practical to not go by rows. You can go diagonally and make the knots you use a specific string for. I think the videos by masha knots are helpful to learn how to make bracelets. In general I recommend watching videos because they help visualise it. There's a tutorial and a video section on this website where you can look too. There are tutorials for specific patterns. |

I recommend you look up "segment knotting". Masha knots has a video on it.

The last post basically covered the question as to how to work with the pattern... But I also read your question as not knowing what the arrows represent? (Completely ignore this if I am mistaken)But... Arrow pointing to the right = Forward Knot Arrow pointing to the left = Backward Knot Arrow going to the right and back = Forward-Backward Knot Arrow going to the left and back = Backward-Forward Knot |
