Hi! I want to start making alpha bracelets and I have a doubt. In normal bracelets all strings should be the same kind because if not the knots look different and weird. But in alpha patterns, can I use a different string for the base strings and another type to knot? I don't know if I'm making sense haha. I have a bunch of string that is a bit thinner and I would like to use it as base strings and then use my normal strings for the knots and the drawing. Thanks! |

You can absolutely use a different kind of thread for the base strings! However, the thinner the base strings are, compared to the knotting strings, the "longer" your knots will be. That means what looks like a square in the pattern will be a long rectangle in your bracelet. For shapes like circles, that can look quite annoying. It's usually better to use thicker strings as base strings, or even use two strings as if it was one base-string. |

Then I guess I'll start with normal strings and in the future I will see how it turns out with the thinner one.Thank you so much!!!! <3 |

I believe using different base strings is ok as long as everyone of the base strings is the exact same size and all of the main string for the knots are the exact same you can’t gradually intertwine string sizes
