Wrong way of reading/using normal patterns?

Hello, I've got a problem. I've been making my bracelets with normal patterns by making the knots by going through the rows from left to right (like reading), but the bracelets often come out with holes, are loose and curl up. What am I doing wrong? I hold the base string tight and straight when knotting so that's probably not the case of the problem. Please help!!

Do you "pull" your knots into the right direction? (backward knots to the left, forward knots to the right etc.)?

This technique is called row-by-row knotting. You could also try segment knotting, if you want (here is a tutorial: https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/97_how-to-segment-knot/). I agree with the other commenter to make sure you pull your knots in the right direction (it sounds like you're pulling all of your knots straight, which isn't always the way that they need to be pulled. This could be contributing to the tension issues).

Yeah, I'm pulling them all up, that might be the case. Thank you, I'll see the tutorial!! But is there any method that is the best? Or is it just preference?

It's preference. Both knotting row by row and segment knotting are good. Both have their pros and cons.Knotting row by row is less confusing so its fail save, but segment knotting is faster and the patterns are easier to memorise. |
