It generally depends on the pattern and the type of bracelet. For normal bracelets I usually cut my string to be my wingspan (around 65 inches) but for normals you have to cut your base string to be how long you want the total bracelet to be. There’s good tutorials on it on YouTube if your still confused!!

It really depends on how long you want the keychain to be. A shorter keychain will use less string than a longer keychain.
