I am planning on making a 50 X 356 size wall hanging how long should I make each string?

356 is the amount of rows? Or do you mean 365, because that's how many days there are in a year.

I would recommend checking out how long a certain amount of rows is for you usually. Then you can use that to calculate how long 365 or 356 rows will be. 🙂

It depends on your knotting style and how thick the thread your using is, usually the way I calculate how long to cut thread for alphas is by seeing how many knots the length is and using that (For example 10/12 knots/rows usually takes up about an inch)

That way if I have a pattern that is 50 x 50 I know I will have to make the base strings at least 5 inches long not including the ends.

Just remember that it’s always better to cut more string than running out halfway through! But even if you do cut too short string you can still add more string : )

@koyourself and @halokiwi thanks! It’s kinda confusing but I’m going to do a row a day for the year like a temperature blanket!
