odd string numbers

when I have a non-alpha bracelet I usually fold the strings in half and start the bracelet but when the pattern has an odd number of strings if I knot them and do my usual bracelet start they slip out of the knots 😭 . how can I start a bracelet with an odd number of strings without this happening?

If you make one big knot with all the strings at once before starting, none of them should be sliding out of that knot 🙂

ifit has a odd number of base strings, i still fold it in half, but leave the skein thing still attached and use that as my leading string if that makes sense. when it has a even numbe rof base strings, i just do a loop and tape the leading string down
