i noticed that in the comments of #93193, a user indicated that it is ideal to avoid the straight alpha technique when creating the pattern. that makes sense to me as i understand that every normal pattern has a unique knot structure, however as someone with less normal experience, are there more instances where it is better to use no technique? what makes a pattern unsuitable? 🙂

my apologies, the title should be Straight-Edge Normal Technique ^^

It is best to not use the straight edges technique in this normal pattern because it would create blue or white knots where you don't want them. You can see that in the preview. The little triangles at the edge would be full knots when you add straight edges and they don't always have the right colour. |

When making normal bracelets I do not recommend using the straight edge technique.

@Sage160769 is there a reason why you generally would advice against it?

honestly, there’s sometimes when i don’t wanna use the straight edge alpha tech bc i like the ridges. but if ur not experienced, then i would use the straight edges on alphas when you have color switches on the edges bc then trying to feed the colors inside of each other on the edges is kinda tricky…. idk if that makes sense tho

@halokiwi I do not because it makes it much more confusing in my opinion but you can use it if you understand how to and want to. I just do not reccomend it if you want to do it in a simpler way. Either way it is your choice. |
