even base strings

I’m starting an alpha and it has 20 base strings. I usually just make an extra long string for the start. But how to start with even base strings and just one leading string

You start like you would start with any other leading string that you introduce later. There will be a little tail, but you can cut that relatively short and if you do the straight edges technique it won't stick out.
