String sizes for Alpha

So I heard that getting strings of the same size is important otherwise the bracelet will look weird but... does that apply to the base strings of an alpha bracelet? What would happen if I used different sized strings for the base but when making the alpha bracelets all other strings will be of the same size?

From what I’ve done before if all of the base strings are the same size and the strings that you’re knitting with are the same size it doesn’t really matter. So like the base strings and strings you knot with don’t have to be the same.

All leading strings should be the same size and all base strings should be the same size, but base strings and leading strings can have different sizes.
