How to read/make normal patterns

Can someone please explain how to read normal patterns? It’s so confusing to me and I don’t understand it but I want to make regular patterns. The confusing part is the order of the strings, meaning the order in which you knot the strings. I’ve tried watching tutorials on how to read them, but they don’t make sense. Any tips are appreciated!!

I find masha knots tutorials the easiest to understand. If you have not watched her video on how to read normal patterns, I recommend her video.
