how do you read big patterns

I have been working on brackets for a while and mainly just smaller one and have been doing medium size alphas, but I want to make a big alpha but don’t know how to keep track of where I am

Sometimes it helps to print it out and use a pen or something to keep track of where you are. You could also just do that on like google sheets or any editing app or something like that.

I keep the pattern up on my computer, and whenever i finish a roll i scroll up so i can't see that row anymore. it helps a lot for more complex patterns
