Threads of different sizes, is it better if the main colour is thicker than the others or thinner?

I make bracelets using crochet thread #10 because I have large quantities of it. I got embroidery floss in a new colour and 6 strands of it is thicker than the crochet thread but 3 strands is thinner. This colour would be the main colour used in the patterns that I want it for. Is it better to go thicker or thinner in this case?

Are you knotting a normal or an alpha? In an alpha I would recommend not doing this, no matter what.

In a normal string of different thickness can work and have a cool effect. I would recommend to make the main colour the thicker string, because it stands out more (literally).

But how about 4 strands. Would that have the same thickness?

@halokiwi Oh dear, it's an alpha. 4 does give me the same thickness so I could try that

Yes, then I think you could try, but I recommend knotting a little test swatch to see, if it really ends up to be the same size.
