I keep seeing people saying this and I have no idea what it is. I’m not super new to making bracelets but I just downloaded BraceletBook.

There are two types of bracelets on braceletbook. These are referred to as normals and alphas. Alphas often show pictures, images, lettering, etc. Alphas also have knots that move horizontally while normals have knots that move diagonally. This information is just to tell the difference between the two types when you look at them but if you plan on making an alpha I would recommend watching Alex’s Innovations or Masha Knots. Hope this helps 😄 |

Alphas contain only forward and backward knots (unless you are doing the straight edge technique) and normals contain forward, backward, forward backward and backward forward knots also there is a difference between the back or normals and the back of alphas. 🙂 I really recommend you check out some tutorials, do some research there are a lot of helpful tutorials on YouTube on this 😄 (i recommend you watch Masha knots or Kinsey b or Alex's innovations for this) |

“Alpha” is a shortened form of the word “alphabet” which is what alpha knotting was originally used for (Megan Morris mentioned this in her classic two-town alpha tutorial on YT). These days, an alpha is basically the knotting craft version of pixel art; like cross stitch patterns, it can make almost any picture/design one knot at a time (except, unlike cross stitching, alphas also involve knotting the canvas/background of the ‘picture’ even where there are ‘blank spaces’ in the picture).
