Embroidery floss vs Craft thread

When I started out with making bracelets, I used what I'm pretty sure is some craft thread I found in the house from when I was younger. It's served me well for some of my early bracelets, but when it came time to replace certain colours I ended up buying embroidery floss without realising they're two separate things. I recently made a whole bracelet out of just the new embroidery floss, and I'm not sure if I'm just not used to it but the knots seem so much more messy than how they looked when I used craft thread? This seems like an obvious choice to just keep using craft thread if I'm used to it but I see everywhere that most people tend to use embroidery floss and that it's generally better quality so I'm not sure if I just need to get used to it! Here is what a few of my bracelets look like using craft thread: https://imgur.com/uCPVwvZ And here is what the newest one with embroidery floss looks like: https://imgur.com/X23qvt4 I don't hate the second one, and I may just be a perfectionist, but it definitely feels worse than my older bracelets. Any input would be appreciated!! |

i feel like embroidery floss can get a bit messier if your not used to it because in craft thread the strands are like twisted together and in embroidery floss they sometimes come apart so that might make it harder to work with and might make it a bit messier.

You don't need to use embroidery floss if you don't like it! It's a common choice because it's reasonably accessible, standardly sized, and has a variety of colors, but it's by no means the only choice. If you decide to stick with te thhe thread, that messiness should go away once you adjust. I'm not sure about the comparative thickness, but getting used to holding the floss tighter or using a knot with greater tension will just take time. It can split, but you can still tie knots when it's split, and there are ways to prevent it.
