So I want to start off with an easy pattern for my first alpha so what’s a good pattern

And how do you change strings???
I’ve looked at tutorials but I still don’t understand because I’m just stupid 🤪🤪

A good pattern to begin making alphas is one with not many strings and not many colours. You can use the filters when going to patterns to find a pattern matching these criteria.

I don't think it is easier to explain or understand how to do a colour switch in written form than it is in a video.
Which video have you been watching and what exactly have you not understood?
Have you already tried to do a colour switch or does this judgement come from only watching?

@halokiwi I don’t remember what videos I watched but I have trouble with trying to do the knots when adding they keep ending up funky

I recommend watching MashaKnots' video on the flat alpha technique.
After that I recommend trying again.
I recommend a pattern like this #24454 or this #36730 to really practice the colour switches.

I can try to describe the flat alpha colour switch:
- make the last knot of the old colour like usual
- make the first half of the knot of the new colour like usual
- take the old leading string and lay it over the basestring you just knotted onto
- make the second half of the first knot of the new colour so the old leading string is sandwiched in the knot
