I have done a couple of chevrons and some of the two-toned heart bracelets and I want to move onto alphas but I want to know if i should do a certain amount of chevrons or like "master" chevrons or something? 😭 😭

Alphas are different than normals, but not more difficult. You could do an easy alpha pattern before ever having done a normal pattern.

Like @halokiwi said, these bracelets are knotted in two different styles and so mastering one doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll immediately be good at the other. All knotting normal or alpha will help with knot consistency and tension though! You can tell the difference as normal bracelets use all of the strings knotting around each other and an alpha uses a set of strings that you knot onto but don’t necessarily use.

The chevron is a normal pattern. Normal patterns have a different knotting structure than alphas. If you go to patterns, you can set the pattern type to alpha or normal to see the difference. |

normal pattern is when your knots go diagonally, alpha pattern is when they go straight from left to right and right to left - that's the difference, I hope i wrote it clearlyas for making chevrons - that's totally up to you, because, as others already said, they are two different techniques - made of the same knots, but different. so mastering one of them won't make you automatically the master of the other one. personally, i love alphas and tend to do them more, so i make chevrons reeeeeally from time to time. i suggest trying a little of both, to see which kind you like more, and which needs more work. the best thing is not to give up when something goes wrong - bracelets take time, so don't give up ❤️ |

Chevrons are very different than alphas but use a different technique. Maybe try a simple two color pattern! Watch tutorials on youtube to help!

I would say try to do more than just chevrons, but you should be fine to do alphas now :]

There isn’t a specific amount you need to make, but I made maybe 3 or 4 before trying alphas. You really only need to know the basic knots before trying alphas. I still make chevrons because I love how they look 🤩

Once you get the hang of the different types of knots I would move on. A good indicator is when your chevrons look neat and well done.
