hi! could anyone tell me/help me figure out how to make my knots line up better? I’ve only made 1 bracelet but the knots were really bumpy and not lining up well. by making them line up better I mean making them flatter and more together (sorry if this didn’t make sense at all)

Honestly, it just takes practice, first bracelets never turn out well because you're just starting to learn how to make them. I haven't posted pics of my very first bracelets, however, if you go onto my profile and look at my first pictures compared to the most recent you will see how my knotting style has changed, and that just come from practice/experience.

I would recommend tightening your knotting tension (and working to find a tension that works best for you) and taking a bit more time to ensure that you have properly knotted as closely to the previous knots as possible

It takes practice! I have found I can be more consistent with my knots when my bracelet is properly secured to a surface

Practice and setup are what did it for me. As you make bracelets, you'll naturally figure out how to keep your knots even and consistent. One thing that made a big difference for me was changing how i secured my bracelets. Something stable, adjustable, and even in pressure is best. My preferred method is a binder clip and stiff cardboard, but a clipboard would work in a similar manner. That makes keeping your knot tension consistent a lot easier.

@frogqueen of course it takes practice, but it's also a good technique to use a ruler to push your knots up and to get a straighter line. Hope this helps you 😊

Obviously your first few bracelets are gonna have some flaws but thats ok. When I make my knots I tie the first half fairly tight against the row above so that they are closer together. Then the second half I do just a tad bit looser so that I dont break the thread 😅 However any of the other ways that people have mentioned would work just as well!

my advice to you is to try to use the same brand or texture of string if you aren't already. make sure you are making exactly 2 knots per part. and also keep the tightness of the knots consistent (like don't slop on some knots and make some looser that the others)
