Hey @pablotimon. You dont specifically have to use dowels. I use wodden skewers. Just cut them to the size u would want for the pattern u are making

hey I would recommended using Woden dowels if your making a relatively big wall hanging and I personally use Woden skewers for smaller wall hangings also for the size I usually do about 3-4 cm's from where the strings ends if that makes sense !!!!! ❤️
