i dont think it really matterns. i mix them. sometimes it comes out a bit weird just like if the string is a different size but it usally is ok.

Different brands create different size knots. For normal paterns, this is fine.For alphas it can cause some unevenness.

@daphne52 you can mix brands just try to avoid size mixing, i use crochet cotton pearl in a size 5 for backround strings and that works perfectly with embroidery floss like DMC and paintbox, are you in the UK or US? i know all the best UK sites plus brands to get but not sure for US

im pretty sure its fine if you mix brands just make sure the thickness is the same, i mix Anchor and Mulina all the time

I always mix because my colored floss is iris but my black and whites are dmc

@daphne52 depends on where you live, i usually go to michaels and get dmc, i also recently tried out Rosa’s Crafts-Sunny Cotton! and i love it
