Plain candy stripe (#1) or chevron (#2) patterns are really beginner-friendly!

After that, you could probably try a simple heart pattern (#1467) and/or a diamond (#1386)... After practicing with those simple patterns, you'll probably feel a lot more comfortable working on more complicated patterns.

Oh, awesome! You could also probably do some zigzag patterns (like #42715, #9865, #468, #1593, etc.)... It also might be helpful to choose patterns with less strings (whatever you're comfortable with) or shorter patterns. There are also a lot of tutorials (here and on YouTube) if you need help with specific patterns, techniques, etc. Good luck!
