What do I do if a bracelet has an odd number of base strings but I want to make it on a keychain or make a loop to start it? For example pattern #99021 has 17 base strings. How would I make a loop if it doesn’t divide evenly by 2.

With patterns like this, I typically make one of the base strings the same color as the leading string. For a loop, use the same method as normal, however, instead of adding on the leading string, just use the other side of the odd string (it’s already the color of the leading string so it’ll work fine) just make this string extra long so that you don’t have to replace it immediately For a keychain, make the odd string the color of the leading string and make it much longer than the other base strings. Make one end of the odd string the same length of the base strings and then attach to the d-ring/key ring the same way. Just make sure that the longer string is on the outer edge pieces not on the inside. Then you can start knotting as usual. I hope this makes sense, I’ve never seen anyone else explain this, so this is just how I figured out how to do it |
