I am still very very VERY new to making alpha patterns. So I'm using the flat alpha technique to make my alpha keychains, and at the edges ( like in pattern #99718 ) but when I do use the flat alpha technique in the end result you can see the color sticking out at the edge. I watched all of the flat alpha technique videos but it only talks about color switches at the last knot, but I am asking about the second to last knot. Can someone please tell me what to do? Thanks in advance 🙂

@Anya411 the way that I do it is by using a little bit of the clean back alpha Technic it is very helpful but basically you carry the string like you would normaly do with the flat alpha technique and then make half a note and drop it down then make the other half of the knot. I really hope this makes sense but if not here is a video by masha knots as well as a time stamp to the part I am refering to I hope this helps and I beleavie in you! 🙂

A colour switch at the second to last knot shouldn't cause any issues.

Only a flat alpha colour switch at the very last knot of a row should lead to the string sticking out. The solution to that is to do a regular colour switch and I recommend that to you too if the second to last knot causes the same issue.

I’m not quite sure what the problem is…but I think it has to do with when you do a color switch on the last knot the string that you’re switching out sticks out. What I do is on the last knot I don’t switch the color, I just tuck the string behind the creation. Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm a beginner with alphas as well, and I've been watching Masha knots tutorials for a while, and I recently wanted to try the rainbow ombre pattern, and in the video she has about that
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmRLgBg3nG4 ) I've watched it sooooo many times and was getting so frustrated with myself because I just could not figure out how to do the technique she's using to color switch, and I know it must just be me like.... not getting it? Because all of her tutorials are soooo easy to follow! Anyone have any advice for this? Tips? Tricks? Ideas on wth I could be doing wrong?

@P1nk1nk I recommend checking out her video in which she explains the flat alpha technique. This way you'll learn how to knot alphas in general and how to switch colours. Once you learned that, you can knot any pattern and don't need to rely on tutorials for specific patterns.
