so basically i have learned everything EXCEPT tying my bracelets and that's how i always end up messing them up and having to cut them off🙁
i know how to do twisty ties on a pattern that isn't an alpha but i only do alphas and i can't seem to find a good way to tie them

So you want to learn how to tie alphas?

I recommend watching MashaKnots video on the flat alpha technique.

You can also do twisted ties on alphas btw.

@kategrace there is no way to make twisted ties on alphas without the base strings showing. I recommend just using thread colors that go with the pattern or a solid color string for your base strings. I use my scraps for rag-rugs or base strings for keychains. hope this helps u : )

The colours of your base strings will always show in your ties :/

If you don't want to "waste" embroidery floss for the base strings, you could for example use crocheting thread which is less expensive.

You could always try having one or two base strings that match the colors of the pattern, then tie those around the other strings like you would if you were making a loop. The other colors would still show on the ends, but most of the ties would match. You could also do what I do, which is get some white crochet thread. You'll have plenty of it, and the white base strings will go with anything.

On alphas, i tend to make them bookmarks and keychains rather than bracelets, so I don’t usually do braids/ ties. But, I like to end my alphas by either tying a knot with all of the string together at the end, or leaving the strings loose. Sometimes I also like to do a triangle end with the base strings, but that can be harder. If you leave them loose, I would definitely leave 3-4 inches of thread so it looks like a nice transition. Hope this helps!
