When making alphas, I don’t like to do the teardrop technique. However, I don’t have any skewers or keychains, and I don’t plan to anytime soon, and I was wondering if there are any alternatives I could find lying around my house?

If you still want to do a loop, you could do a triangle end after itIf you don't want to make a loop, you can do ties and then a triangle end |

your alpha that u wanna attach to ur wallhanging should have a loop and try to attach it to a tiny jump ring and if the jump ring is too tiny to attach the alpha to the wallhanging use a key ring and put the string in the middle of the keyring and tie your knot like normal if im correct you're trying to use your alpha as a charm for a wallhanging so thats what u have to do and for the jump ring if u use that same process.

if the pattern is small enough, you can try toothpicks.

yeah u could do another piece of string. it just gets kinda wonky sometimes because it’s not very sturdy so the rows will come out curved if ur not careful

you can get wooden sticks at most craft stores that are made for this kind of thing, they are called dowel rods. but it's sometimes hard to cut them to size. I usually use aluminum wire, but it's important to make sure that it's not bent before starting. hope this helps! 💕

A thing that I found very useful for anything from a keychain to a wall-hanging was a bio drinking straw made from literal straw, like hay straw. I got them at a local shop some time ago, but they're gaining popularity as the eco movement grows. If you live somewhere relatively close to a field/barn, you might justify a small field trip and get some for free! Also, one last pro of straw - even if the string you want to pull through it (for hanging) is too thick, you can always open the straw up by running your nail along the side and simply push that string in! The whole thing tightens as you tie your knotting strings around the straw, so no need to worry about the straw fraying nor letting go of any strings involved 😉 |

Hi, for my alphas I have personally never tied them onto something like a skewer. I prefer to do a normal loop at the top (not stitched) or I’ll leave the strings loose, or sometimes I’ll do triangle ends on both sides if it’s going to be a bookmark.

you can attach your big alphas to a pencil, (not used or sharpened yet, and maybe paint that?) wooden dowels, and you can also use safety pins if you are just practicing. i know a lot of people use safety pins and i feel like after if you have done a good job you can pin it onto something! i hope i helped and good luck with your bracelet making 🙂
