You can make any bracelet using the row by row method. But some people find it faster to segment knot and I find that to be true. Most patterns can be segment knotted but some people will do some patterns row by row because the pattern is too difficult to segment knot ans that’s perfectly fine. I segment knot most patterns but before I cut my string to start a pattern I need to look at the pattern to make sure I am actually do it. Start off easy first to build up your confidence. If you’ve made a chevron before then you’ve probably already segment knotted. I recommend starting a diamond pattern they’re the easiest to segment knot for me. Just follow the forward or backwards knots like a v shape. Something that also helped me is following along to bracelet tutorials. Some people will make a tutorial on a certain pattern and they will most likely segment knot it. Just search friendship bracelet tutorials on YouTube and tutorials for different patterns will show up. Just follow along and learn how to read patterns properly. Hope this helped

When segment knotting, you knot in diagonals as much as possible.

To figure out which segments there are in a certain pattern, I recommend taking a screenshot of the pattern or printing it out. Then you can use that to draw the segments onto the pattern.

I have written a tutorial. Idk if it's helpful, because you said you already watched many tutorials.

Is there a specific thing you don't understand after watching that many tutorials?

@itz_kayra I’d say that the best place to start/best way to plan how to segment knot, is to look at the pattern. Often, how I segment knot begins with basically just knotting with one string of a specific colour as far as I can before I have to change strings/colours. If the pattern contains shapes like triangles or diamonds, then the larger ‘view’ of segment knotting would be to knot each shape.

@P1nk1nk i'm not an expert on segment knotting so there might be a better way to do this but if i were making that pattern i'd use the stripes going from right to left as guiding lines for segment shapes. so i'd start from blue (F2) going left to the first row of pink (C1) doing knots before the tan (A1) stripe, then knot the stripe, then go from green (H1) to blue (F1) till the right side of the bracelet, then knot the rectangle between tan and teal and blue and pink, then go from pink (C2) to the left till the first tan row, knot the teal stripe and so on and so forth. the idea is to make as many knots with the same thread as possible before you have to change it.

@P1nk1nk since it's so close to a regular candystripe, I would always knot in diagonals from the left to the right. You just have to make sure to make b knots where the pattern asks for them.
