I'd like to improve and it'd help if anyone who's very good at making bracelets could share some advice ^^ Also, how can I make my bracelets' designs look neater? Sometimes they turn out jagged and uneven.

If your bracelets keep coming out jagged and uneven try doing a forward-backward knot for the right edge and a backward-forward knot for the left edge. This is especially helpful when it comes to making alphas.

Don’t tie your knots too hard and for alphas use the flat alpha technique!

If they turn out uneven that means that you tie your knots differently

I recommend using the same thickness of string, especially for alphas!

For normal patterns, I recommend that you watch some videos on how to segment knot because it definitely makes making the bracelet easier. Also, you can start by making some very simple patterns. Some YouTubers that I recommend for you are Masha Knots, Alex Innovations, and Megan Morris. For alpha patterns, you should make sure that all of your strings are the same size. You should also start off with a simple pattern. Finally, I would suggest that you learn the straight edges technique and the flat alpha technique. These strategies can be learned from the YouTubers listed above. Hope this helps you! -@stewon6969 |

Looser knots for alphas, use the straight edges technique for both kinds of patterns if u want, there are two good tutorials by Masha knots as mentioned, keep practicing. learn from others! Remember not to be hard on yourself and if you continue to knot you’ll get better.

tight first half of the knot looser 2nd half makes it look looser and bigger without actually being loose

This is really cliché, but practice really does go a long way. Make sure to make bracelets that get you excited about knotting and trying new techniques and tricks until you find what you like best. Have fun!

I'm not an expert in anyway, but I noticed that pulling the first half of a knot tight enough and the second half as well made my bracelets look cleaner with less holes too.

I’m definitely not an expert but I like to use a ruler for my alphas at the end of the rows. All you do is push against the knots and it helps to get them in a straight line making you bracelet neater.

I agree with @peanutsv investing time into learning things like the teardrop loops and new ways to finish your bracelets can help. Also practice!!!!! If you go to my profile you can see in the beginning my brackets were very…. Janky. I recommend doing a lot of like 8 or 10 string bracelets just to practice knotting. I know I’m terms of edges people will add an extra string to each edge and so backward forward knots. It can also create a cool looking border this way.

Be calm while making your bracelet/keychain/bookmark/etc. It might honestly sound stupid but if I’m really frustrated with my creation I make my knots tighter, rush, or am overall sloppy. Also, don’t be scared to make some bad bracelets/others. My first alpha (the elephant pic) I completely redid because of how bad it started. And the 2nd time around it was still bad (a dark time in my alpha-making career)! Just learn from those mistakes, it helps a TON. Lastly, don’t give up! You got this. P.S. I think I might sound like a coach before a big game, ngl. Although it’s a really bad pep talk. |

One thing I do onto this day is use a ruler to line up my knots. This makes the overall knots look perfect. Another thing I did to get better at knotting/bracelets is I worked with complex patterns. working with complex patterns really helped me to perfect my knots and transitioning colours.

Two tips that others have shared with me that has worked for me, is to knot as closely to your clip/tape as possible, and to pull your string vertically upwards more than in a bias to one side or another while tying your knots. A more detailed explanation exists in my bio if you’re interested.

I like to try and tie my bracelets in 1-3 big sections because sometimes I knot tighter/looser depending on how I feel or what position I’m in, so that might help : )
