You mean you don’t know how to start the pattern? You go row by row using the string color selected to make forward knots and backward knots. You can start from a chevron or candy stripe

The way the colors are lined up on the pattern is how you set up your string! Your strings are folded in half so there should be one color on both sides. You can message me if you need more help I’ll try my best

There are 2 types of bracelets: Alpha and Normal. Which type are you trying to make?

For Normal: I suggest starting with #1. There are several videos if your scroll down to the Video section of the pattern's page. I know you said you've watch several videos already, but I find these to be helpful 🙂
Here is a helpful beginner tutorial = https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/22_tutorial-for-beginners/

For Alpha: I suggest starting with #11523 to practice with.
Here is a helpful tutorial: https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/9_alphabet-patterns/

I hope this helps, and if you have any questions please feel to message me! 😊

For normal patterns you’re going to read line by line. If you’ve made bracelets successfully before you probably learnt in a segment knotting method which is not how patterns are made. So in this case you’re going to lay your strings out in the order they show at the top of the pattern. Instead of grabbing one string and tying it across a line you’re going to knot ‘neighbours’ together.

So if your strings are laid out ‘a b c a b c’ you’re going to knot a and b together however your pattern shows, set them aside and then knot c and a together however your pattern shows and then b and c. Then move down to your next row and you’re going to be tying the innermost strings of each of your previous knots together. Some rows will have strings on the outer edge that don’t make knots. So you’re essentially making a staggered brick pattern with your knots.

I think that im confused about segment knotting vs row by row

In row by row, you separate the two strings out, make the knot, then move on to the next pair, which can take some time. Segment knotting is usually first learned if you’ve made a candy stripe or chevron before, as you take one string and make the knot with the pair you usually would, then continue on to the next string without pausing to make another pair. It saves time in the long run because you don’t have to keep putting down and picking up strings, but it can make people a little confused, so it’s not for everyone. It depends on what pattern, as some can be done entirely with segment knotting, while some, especially ones involving fb and bf knots, have to be done with less of it.
