So I’m doing a wall hanging, specifically #70643 I believe. And I have embroidery floss, aunt lydias crochet thread size 3 and some smaller crochet thread I found at Joanns and idk which one will be best for this. It’s 40 base strings and I will be knitting with embroidery floss. Base string? 𑁍☻✰ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

thanks so much for making my pattern! i usually use embroidery floss for these wall hangings. however, if the crochet thread you have is about the same thickness as the thread you'll be using to knot the pattern, I think that would be fine too.

@Brooke1683, I've seen lots of people use size 3 crochet thread for base strings, its bigger than normal embroidery floss, but that's good because then your wallhanging won't elongate as much. It's also cheaper because it comes in bigger balls, so I think that's why people use it. I have some size 10 crochet cotton I use sometimes for base strings, but I double up and knot on two strings instead of one, because it's smaller. In my opinion, if you don't have to waste your good embroidery floss on base strings, you shouldn't, just because it's usually more expensive.Hope this helps! |
