Why is there even the option to rate a pattern low? I don’t think it should be there because all patterns deserve five stars and sometimes people do it accidentally or on purpose, so idk. But I don’t think it should be there. Why are there so many mods if it only seems like four or five are active? Those places could be for more active people. Can there be an option to send photos in messages? I just feel like that would be nice. Is there a certain age you have to be to be a mod? Can people have an option to delete their own patterns/comments/ photos? Could someone please list down below what things are considered appropriate on here? Thx. |

Hi @-Fiona-I'll try and answer each of these questions as best as I can. 🙂 It's actually not as easy to tell which moderators are active and which ones are aren't. 🙂 There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes, so even if you're not seeing a particular moderator accepting or declining your patterns and variations, there's many other things we tend to. The moderators and admins communicate in a discord-like space where we're often discussing new ideas, addressing and managing site problems concerning misbehaving users, changing or altering the site rules, guidelines and decline messages, discussing and removing similar patterns or stolen patterns from other sites, line editing and copy editing upcoming user-made tutorials, and just generally discussing aspects about our personal lives. Moderators also read through each and every comment, forum topic, and forum reply, to make sure they coincide within the site's rules. Activity rates of users waxes and wanes, and at the moment, the amount of moderators we have corresponds well with how many users are currently using the site. 🙂 So when the time comes, and there's a higher rate of active users on the site, we'll then add a new moderator who is 18+ and who we feel best suits our criteria. At the present time, we do not remove moderators based on activity level, as each moderator volunteers their time based on their schedule and/or desire to moderate at a given time. The ideas you mentioned about sending photos in the private messenger and deleting one's own comments and photos; those are upcoming features on Admin's todo list that will be available at some point in the future! These are great ideas and things that users have been asking for. 🙂 As far as pattern ratings are concerned, good keywords are actually far more important than good ratings in order to promote pattern visibility and exposure, as ratings serve more as an additional way to show support toward a pattern other than using the heart button, but also function to express criticism. We allow criticism and opinionated discussion on BraceletBook so long as it is respectful and not spam, meaning, we don't allow a large influx of 1-star ratings of patterns, and we do not allow rude or provoking comments. If you're interested in reading our current rules, you can read through it by scrolling to the bottom right of the page and selecting, "Guidelines". You can also select "FAQ" where we have a list of common questions and answers (that we actually just rewrote and updated together last week!) as far as appropriate vs inappropriate behavior, we try to keep BraceletBook a positive and welcoming environment for all, and you can read more about that in the guidelines. I hope this helps answer some of your questions! 🙂 |
