What determines the difficulty ratings of patterns?

Well as far as i can tell, they haven’t really been used in years (like around the 1600s patterns), but 1 and 2 are generally considered pretty easy, 3 and 4 are moderate, and anything above that is for more experienced people

I have only made a few bracelets so far, but I've done easy, intermediate, and advanced patterns and as far as I can tell, the only difference is the level of focus you need for each pattern and the number of steps. The knots or techniques don't get much harder, just more parts. (but idk still a beginner!)
