Masha Knots has a video addressing just this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWCLjCzu10Y It has many useful tips on the subject.

I usually look at photos from other users here on Bracelet Book until I find a cute pattern that I want to make too.
Sometimes I go get more colors of thread from the store to inspire me
Sometimes I use a random idea generator and look up patterns of that word

But sometimes breaks are good so you don't get too burnt out on the hobby

On Instagram or Pinterest there are many people with super cute patterns and I always get motivated there. I also sometimes decide on giving someone a bracelet so completing it to so I can give it to them is enough motivation for me as well. Lastly I also watch Knot With Me videos on Youtube like Masha Knots, Kinsey b, and Megan Morris (those are my favorite youtubers so far).

Usually when I am in a bracelet slump I go to pinterest or instagram. I look for a smaller pattern to start with. When I finish that and I start to get motivation I go ahead and make a smaller bracelet, the bigger bracelet and after that anything I want to do! It helps me a lot. 😄

I look at photos of bracelets or I organize my string, because my string seems to magically get messy every time I look away from it.

Here are a handful of things that I think help to keep me motivated and in the mode of creating 🙂
1. Try new techniques: I find that trying out a new technique and then using it multiple times to really get it down helps to keep things fresh! It also keeps me wanting to grow and improve and that keeps me motivated to keep working. If I’m ever looking for new techniques I head to the tutorials section, scour YouTube, or look for ideas from inspiring IG accounts. There really are so many different things to try.

2. Find new applications for knotting. I also find knotting different types of products - bookmarks, keychain, shaped keychain charm, wall hanging etc. and alternating between these things (instead of mostly knotting just bracelets over and over) helps to give enough variety to keep me wanting to create things. For me, as an adult, I don’t really wear a lot of bracelets, but I love knotting, so its a fun challenge to find applications of knotting that really fit more of my adult aesthetic that I like.

3. Sometimes, I also just really like coming up with a color palette that I really love and gets me excited to find the perfect pattern/application. And finally, what helps me to stay in the mode of creating things is being inspired to create something perfect to give to a friend. Knotting for me is just a hobby, not a business opportunity, so I mostly give away my creations. I find it motivating to come up with the perfect thing and send it away to a close friend.

4. Try a big or longer term project that will give you something to work on for awhile. Find a pattern that excites you and do something big with it! Whether its a large wall hanging or maybe trying to make a bag or pouch of some type, having something that will take you awhile to make but that you are excited to do so can be very motivating!

That being said, sometimes it is healthy to take a break from something you love for a spell in order to regain motivation in the long term and recover from any burnout. I have a lot of different hobbies that I am really into, and I find that each one of them gets more time and attention from me at different times. If I start to lose motivation in one area, I tend to naturally gravitate to one of my other hobbies. They tend to be cyclical in nature. And knotting will always be there for you when you are ready to come back.

Hope some of this is helpful!

I like to listen to podcasts while i make bracelets, because if i watch tv or youtube or somthin i get so distracted and get nothing done! 😂
Also, I like to pick a pattern i really like, then tell myself "you cant start a new one until you've finished this."
And making them fir people helps with motivation, because there might be a deadline like a birthday or holiday!
Good luck!

I like looking at instagram, Pinterest or here on braceletbook. It usually gives me motivation to knot. If that doesnt work, I ask my friend what are their fav Animal And than I make a bracelet with that specific animal on it.

I Also like to watch true crime And documentary videos, so I make bracelets while watching!😄

Hope that helps!<3

I’d say over all, the best tip I could give you if you’ve tried everything, is to just start. Sometimes we get motivation from doing the thing rather than talking about it or looking at it or thinking about it. I’ve taken a lot of time reading tips and following them when I was in bracelet slumps or art block but it became a form of procrastination for me. Good luck to anyone going thru one rn, and don’t push yourself too hard you will get thru it! (:

i always pick colors that match a certain dress or outfit and try to make it before i wear it next🙂 and obviously find a pattern/color combo that u like bc its pretty much pointless to make it if u dont even like it
