what length of string do i need for a alpha

I am trying to do one of my biggest alphas yet and I do not know what length would be best so I don't end up having to little. It is 22x86 HELP PLEASE ND QUICK its for my boyfriend for our 1 year and that is in two weeks! I want to finish this in time

From what you are writing I conclude that you have knotted an alpha before 🙂 this is good because you can use that to figure out the amount of strings

Base strings: In the alpha you have already knotted, you measure how long 10 rows are. You take that times 8,6 to figure out how long 86 rows would be and add some extra for the loop and ties.

Leading strings: estimating this would be more difficult but you don't really need to. If you run out of string, you can just make a colour switch to a new string of that colour.

I always cut mine 48 cm long for base strings
