Hi!

So, because I love a challenge, I've decided that for my third project I'd like to make one of the bigger alphas that's more like a small wall hanging (52x70, pattern #97367)). I'm ready for the challenge but want to know how you estimate how much thread you'll need before you start? I'm a cross stitcher too so I'm working in 6 stranded embroidery floss but the stuff I'm using is off-brand so it'll be hard to replace if I run out. I don't mind buying DMC instead but I'd like an idea of how much to buy so I'm not forever running backwards and forwards to hobbycraft.

Thank you ❤️

You can do a test swatch to see how much leading string is used for a certain amount of knots. You can use that to roughly estimate the amount of leading string you'll need for the pattern. You can do the same for base strings. In your test swatch you just measure how long a certain amount of rows is.
