I have really bad anxiety when it comes to making alphas, I don’t know how long to make the string and I always feel like I’m going to run out. I haven’t made an alpha yet because I’m to scared it’s not going to turn out good… any tips or advice would be great. Thanks in advance!

Once you have made an alpha yourself, you can collect your own data, but here is what works for meBase strings: ca. 1cm per 5 rows + extra for loops and ties (depends on how long you make the ties and how big you make the loops) It's not as well known but you can replace a base string too if it gets too short or breaks. Here is a video : https://youtu.be/K47ogYsEpyw Leading strings: can't really be estimated accurately, most people just leave them on the skein, but even if you do run out, you can just perform a colour switch to a string of the same colour |

Oh, and if you just want to make something that's bracelet length: the base strings need to be your wrist circumference plus extra for loops and ties. Since you don't make knots with the base strings, but only onto the base strings, they're basically the same length as the finished product except when it comes to loops and ties but you should be able to estimate those from normals

@Shaylee I just cut my base strings extra long and if I have extra I cut it off at the end and use it as scrap thread!! It's better to have more than to run out. With the extra string you can make rag rug bracelets and other cool bracelet designs as well!! ❤️
