I just wanted to make an alpha but I'm not sure how to start 1.How do I know do I have enough threads? 2. And will bracletbook give me permission to post a photo of a pattern if I just do one part of it(the pattern shows the whole face really detailed, but I want to only knot the eye of the figure, will they let me do that?) |

1) For the base strings you always need the length of the bracelet + some extra for loops and ties. For me 5 rows are about 1cm but for you that could be different.Estimating the length of the leading strings is more difficult, so most people will just leave them on the skein and cut them in the end. 2) Yes, you can post photos where you only did part of the pattern. |

I’m wondering how to tie off the leading string at the beginning and end so it doesn’t come undone?

@LauraLHay usually the strings won't come undone, but you could for example-include your first and/or last leading string in the loop/ties -use the other end of the first leading string as a base string when working with an uneven amount of base strings -tie the ends of different leading strings together in the back -use nail polish or glue to secure the loose ends |
