Hello, I am currently working on a bag for my sister and I wanted to make the straps with a bracelet pattern but now I'm not sure about the size. Do you guys have any tipps to see how wide the strap will be if I use for example a pattern with 26 strings?

Have you knotted bracelets before? If not, I don't think a bag is a good first project. If yes, you can just take a bracelet you've made before and measure its width and use that to calculate.For me in a normal bracelet each string is a width of 0,1cm, so a bracelet with 16 strings would be 1,6cm wide. For an alpha bracelet for me one base string is around 0,15cm, but I don't make enough alphas for this number to be reliable. In both alphas and normals the width depends on materials and knotting tension. |
