On braceletbook you can create two different types of patterns: alphas and normals. The place where you can do that is a generator - a normal pattern generator and an alpha pattern generator - so the word "alpha generator" means just that: a place where you can generate alpha patterns.Do you want to design a normal or an alpha pattern? To get to the generator (both normal and alpha) on a computer you need to hover over your username on the top right. On a phone you just click on it. In the fold-down menu you have to click "create patterns". If you can't find it, here is a link: https://www.braceletbook.com/create/ There you will find two different sections: "normal patterns" and "alpha patterns". On the right of each section there is a button "new pattern" that you need to click to generate a new normal or alpha pattern. The normal pattern generator opens up to pattern #1 and alpha pattern generator to pattern #696. These patterns are just there in the generator, so it's not empty. Then you can change this pattern to make your own. In the normal pattern generator there are two sections: "normal" and "interactive normal". Normal generator: I recommend to go to "interactive normal". There you can click on the individual knots in the pattern to change their knot type. You can also add and remove strings and rows by clicking the plus and minus buttons at the sides. You can change the colours of the strings by selecting a new colour in "using colour" and then clicking at the end or beginning of the string you want to change to that colour. I recommend to regularly click "save" so you don't loose your progress. When you are happy with your pattern, go to the "normal" section of the normal pattern generator. Don't forget to click "save" before doing so. In the "normal" section you have to enter at least five keywords into "keywords". The keywords should describe the pattern and help others to effectively search for the pattern. https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/155_tips-for-choosing-good-keywords/ Once you have entered the keywords, click "save&test" to save the changes you have made. On the top of the page you will the boxes that can be green, orange or red. These are the warnings. You have to try to eliminate them before submitting a pattern for a higher chance of it being accepted. https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/140_normal-pattern-warnings-and-how-to-fix-them/ Before submitting a pattern you need to click the little box under "share rights" Alpha generator: The alpha generator has more sections than the normal generator so I won't be as detailed. The first page "alpha" is equivalent to the "normal" page. You can enter the keywords, see the warnings and submit the pattern here. In "draw alpha" you can draw your pattern knot by knot. You can select a colour and click on the knot you want to change to that colour. Don't forget to click "save". "write alpha" let's you create simple word patterns from three preset fonts. Note that we don't accept simple word patterns. A word pattern is acceptable if it has unique and complex decoration. You can add that decoration in "draw alpha" "alpha from image" lets you create a pattern from an image. It's an algorithm that transforms a photo into a pixel art. It's not perfect, so you will most likely have to tweak a pattern generated like this. Here are tutorials how you can do this: https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/120_making-better-outlines-for-alpha-patterns/ https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/74_how-to-tweak-patterns/ "alpha from font" is a bit like "alpha from image" and "write alpha". Instead of taking a photo, you take a font file and like in "write alpha" you can create any text you like from it. Like when using "alpha from image" you will most likely also need to tweak any pattern created using "alpha from font". In addition to that you might also need to add additional unique and complex decoration. I think that was about everything. If you want to know more about something specific, feel free to ask. You should also read our guidelines before submitting a pattern. This saves us mods work and saves you from being frustrated about your patterns getting declined: https://www.braceletbook.com/review-guidelines/ |
