Making a hair tie

I'm making pattern #1964701 into a hair tie I did the math and I need abot 87 inches to make 24 inch tie.. problem is how to work with such long string.. any tips would help!

You could roll the ends up so they don't tangle

you could wrap the string around bobbins like it’s the leading alpha string

You could always use less and add in more as you go.
